The Orihuela Costa, located in the southern region of the Costa Blanca is a true golfing haven with a host of fabulous courses on your doorstep.

Located within a five minute drive of the beach areas the classic Villamartin course that hosted the Mediterranean open is found - a must visit location stepped in history with a very welcoming atmosphere. Closeby the unique Las Ramblas provides a challenge with its tight fairways and treacherous layout it is a mouth-watering prospect for those golfers that are a glutton for punishment! Aren't we all? Other courses here include Real Club de Golf Campoamor, set in a stunning location, and Lo Romero ( set a further 10 mins to the south) with greens as good as you will see anywhere on the continent.


In real terms and only a ten minute drive from the coast the latest Course to open is the 5 star Las Colinas Golf and Country club course has been ranked in the Top 100 Golf Courses in Europe and plays host to Stage 2 of The European Tour Qualifying School. Featuring several short tricky par four holes, a delicate 120 yard par three and the par five 11th in excess of 600 yards it has something for everyone. The signature 18th hole with water running up the right to the green will test anyone with a good card coming in.

Heading back towards Alicante (15 minutes away) we find The La Finca Golf & Spa Resort, a championship course and one of the most impressive designs in the area. Set in an idyllic location offering views across the Vega Baja and surrounding mountains, the course offers great variety with its olive-tree lined fairways, well placed water hazards and subtle elevation changes. The 5 star faciities at La Finca compliment this top-class golf course.

Other wonderful courses in the area include La Serena with its vast expanses of water hazards and nearby La Marquesa, home to the annual Miguel Angel Jimenez pro-am. Golfers are spoilt for choice on the Southern Costa Blanca. Memberships are available and green fees much more affordable than on the Costa Del Sol and Portugal. You would have to work hard to find a better region for the avid golfer.
