Orihuela Costa – Remains the Leader in the Alicante Province
16 May 2020
For more than a decade Orihuela's coastal region has been the leading municipality in the new build property sector, building more new homes than any other city in the province in the past decade.
During this period, Orihuela has started the construction of more new homes, than the province's capital Alicante, and one of the most important cities in Spain Elche combined (Orihuela 7,389, verses Alicante 4,224 and Elche 2,787).
In the first quarter of the year, Orihuela has maintained the trend of its leadership with 350 homes started between January and March 2020.
Since the state of alarm (Covid-19) Orihuela´s city council and urban planning has kept up the pace granting licenses for a further 248 homes as well as the second phase of a 600 dwelling real estate complex on Orihuela Costa.
The skyline tells the tale with the continued installation of building site crane's to be seen in all directions – the coastal area has to its continued advantage one of the most modern infrastructures in Europe, including hospitals, shopping centres, leisure facilities, IT installations, and a far reaching network of motorways and rail links, that feed directly the sea and dry ports of the Valencian community.
